About

When I’m not writing, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking the many trails in my backyard, taking trips, painting, playing tennis and American Mahjong, and cooking up new recipes.

My father is a member of the Klamath, Modoc, and Yahooskin tribes of Klamath, Oregon. The ancestry I carry fascinates me. Especially the fact that my great-great-grandmother Dorthea McAnulty spoke to Congress (begins on p. 59) on behalf of the tribe to overturn the Termination Act of 1954. I am also of Māori descent from New Zealand. My current YA novel is a blend of my ancestry, standing up for what’s right, while preserving art and nature.
